Sokola Fights Back

People in the 8th Senate District just got a scorching mailer today from the Sokola campaign containing direct quotes from past business lawsuits and debt-collection actions against Mike Ramone.

Sources tell me that it's a very professional ad that reads:

"Inside: What State Senate candidate MIKE RAMONE won't tell you about his "business experience."

Good for Sokola hitting back against Romone's and Dave Crossan's lies and dirty tricks.

The voter registration in the 8th SD is:

9,659 D
9,685 R
6,974 Other

It's going to be a late late night for everyone invloved.

Comments:
Ahhh, more attacks from Democrats behind in the polls. And nice, personal gutter attacks, too.

Mmmmm, tastes like chicken.

be a sport and post the mailer so we can all judge it on it's merits

Gutter attacks?

Mike should have thought about how his "business experience" would look to voters befor he took the low road.

When I get it - consider it posted.

he "took the low road"... by running as a republican?

When you have no idea what it's liike to be a small business owner, it's easy to take shots.

Has Dave Sokola ever created a job in Delaware outside of government?

And I'm talking about Sokola, not Jason.

When you have no idea what the inside of a public school is like, it's easy to take shots.

he "took the low road"... by running as a republican?

The low road started here.

And, by running on his business experience, Ramone made it fair game for rebuttal.

When you have no idea what the inside of a public school is like, it's easy to take shots.

Mike Ramone is attacking Dave Sokola for his failures as a teacher? I don't think so. So, the comparison does not apply.

Sokola was the point man on certain education bills where action was being demanded by parents, against the backdrop of a national movement (identified mostly with Republicans) towards testing, standards, and accountability.

Sokola took the heat and negotiated the compromises between demands of Republicans, Democrats, business, parents, students, and teachers.

That was basically a suicide mission; no way was a perfect solution going to be found. But Sokola was the guy with the courage to do it. If he didn't we'd all be blaming him for not taking action and he'd lose in a landslide.

So for Ramone to run his campaign by selectively picking on the low points of recent education initiatives, and ignoring the successes, is an unfair attack in itself.

So in Monday's press conference look for Ramone to say, correctly, that in business sometimes you get sued and sometimes you get behind on payments. That is certainly true; everything does not have to be perfect to be successful in business, and it's not fair to pick on the failures and ignore the successes.

Just as it's true that in education, it's not fair to pick on the failures and ignore the successes.

And how exactly would Ramone know anything about public schools?

Ahhh, more attacks from Democrats behind in the polls.

A negative mailer from Ramone arrived in the mailbox on the same day.

So according to your theory... they are BOTH behind in the polls.

Unlike the Sokola mailer which used almost entirely quotes from public records, the Ramone mailer made a lame attempt to imply that the legislative pay raise is responsible for the transportation deficit. First of all, that's just bad math - someone with business skills ought to know better.

Secondly, if that's all the Ramone campaign has got, they are cooked.

So what you're saying, anonymously, is that Ramone sent out an attack mailer about issues and Sokola sent out an attack mailer about Ramone's personal life?

Based on that, I'll stick by my diagnosis.

Sokola sent out an attack mailer about Ramone's personal life?

Nope, nothing about "personal life," just statements from the public record with bearing on Ramone's business experience - which Ramone himself injected into the campaign thinking it would be a positive.

I'll stick by my diagnosis of the situation, and I won't even go into the labor unions bailing out on Sokola to back up my claim.

Oops.

"A negative mailer from Ramone"

lets see it.

put up both pieces.
