Pacem in Terris

Fellow PDDer June is also very active in Pacem in Terris.

Now, I know that the words "peace movement" give some Democrats the willies. But, that is because they (and I include myself) associate supporting peace with being crushed by conservative at the voting booth. Here is the thing - the "peaceniks" were onto Bush's flat out bullshit very early on. So, if you want to give the peace people some props they are having thier annual dinner and have a big name speaker lined up.

NATIONALLY KNOWN ACTIVIST AND FORMER CIA ANAYLST RAY McGOVERN TO SPEAK IN WILMINGTON
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19

Westminster Presbyterian Church
1506 West 13th Street, Wilmington 19806

7:45 p.m. to hear Ray McGovern only, at no charge
6:00 p.m. to attend the Pacem In Terris Annual Dinner - $20/person

Ray McGovern has become a outspoken critic of the Iraq war and the Bush Administration and can be widely read in the print media; seen/heard on TV and radio; and observed broadly on the Internet. His career as a CIA analyst spanned 27 years from the administration of John F. Kennedy to that of George H. W. Bush. In January 2003, a handful of intelligence community alumni/ae, including Ray, created Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS). VIPS now includes 55 former professionals from CIA and other US and Allied intelligence agencies.

Support the only peace group in the area and join us at the dinner. You’ll love the energy of being in a room filled with peace people! Tickets are $20. Call the Pacem in Terris office for more information – 656-2721. If you cannot attend the dinner, you are invited to come just for Ray McGovern’s talk at 7:45 p.m. There is no charge for this.

Ray will be on the Al Mascitti show on WDEL 1150 AM on Friday morning, Oct. 20th, for an hour, sometime between 9 a.m. and noon.
