I saw this coming
What a week to be away. I have always said that Michael Castle is beatable and everyone has to admit that he is even more so now.
While Dana quotes an outdated Farliegh Dickinson poll - all serious political observers have to know that Castle's stroke has turned over the chess board.
My best wishes go out to Castle and his family and I hope that they view this as signal to retire from politics.
I think calling for retirement is asking a bit too much of the Republicans.
I truly hope Castle is 100%; it sounds like he is.
However, I also hope he will now feel compelled to demonstrate his robustness by actually going out on the campaign trail and explaining his positions to voters. No matter who wins the election, Delaware would win if Castle is forced to lay out his rationale for his positions, instead of his usual silent treatment of the voters.
Jason...I know I say this a lot...but "you can't be serious!" Voters have been known to elect corpses...and Mike Castle is certainly not headed that way. You seriously think this will sway voters away from Castle. If anything, I think this could logically put more people in his column. He may just break 70%.
I understand you're a Democrat, but that was just a stupid comment. Castle's stroke has not turned over the chess board.
In fact, if Mike Castle is smart (and he appears to be) this small health problem may lead him to make any needed lifestyle changes that would prevent any major health problems in the near future. This could lead to his being a viable senator longer in life.
Don't be so sure! Just back from a Spivack phone bank and the folks we talked to are excited by our Democratic candidate. Spivack was suffering from a name recognition problem but all the coverage of Castle's stroke has helped with that. The campaign is hammering away and in politics a whole lot can happen in 39 days! It ain't over 'til it's over.
How come the Republicans don't use this as an opportunity to gently encourage Castle to retire. Even if they end up with Spivak in for a single term, maybe they would get a real R in after that. There's a whole league of conservative Rs out here who would love to see a true Republican in who can stand up for Life.
When did I ever say he was better than Spivack? When? All I said is Spivack's gonna lose. I'm totally able to separate reality from my own political opinions.
When have I swiftboated Crazy Denny? I simply pointed out that the man is a loose cannon. Which, I wouldn't mind in general, but his brand is particularly arrogant and condescending.
Again, either shut up or come out from your anonymous moniker. I don't like debating fools who don't reveal themselves. What do you have to be afraid of? Is this Alexander Snyder-Mackler?? I promise...I won't tell!
No apologies for the anonymity. Look how you sputter and circle around the point when you are deprived of the ad hominem argument and are forced to defend your own words and actions on their merits.
...ummm, maybe when you started swiftboating Spivack with the Crazy Denny stuff while giving Castle a free pass?
And I replied to it. You didn't really make much of a point. You made a statement based on illogical rantings. I asked you for clarification and evidence as to HOW I "swiftboated" Dennis Spivack. You replied that I'm "circl[ing] around the point." Frankly, you didn't make much of a point for me to debate.
If you're referring to some "other" Anonymous reply above, then let me know. Because you "anonymous" folk are often difficult to differentiate from each other!
Sorry for the confusion...the anonymous above actually seemed to have some tact, which is why I easily confused you with him/her. It certainly WILL NOT happen again!
I think this could logically put more people in his column. *** Mike...you must not know anything about the brain nor strokes to say that logic precludes a serious review of Castle's viability.
He does indeed owe it to the voters to come out and campaign strongly to proove that he is not impaired, his stroke affected the THALAMUS, the relay center of almost all brain activity.
This oculd well be much more than the current GOPer spin.
We have such a great confliction of the truth so far....stroke no stroke one stroke two strokes (only known after the MRI) that we must surely see for ourselves how he is.
Dennis Spivack or Karen Hartley-Nagle are equally competant individuals to represent us in DC and we certainly deserve the truth in order to decide who to send who can best serve. (not that Castle was adequate IMHO)
I actually phoned Spivack late last night to encourage him to schedule a debate with the "lesser" (as they are MOST UNFORTUNATELY called) candidates KHN and Berg.
Dennis said that if Castle was not well enough to get back into the race by next week that he would strongly consider my suggestion.
Anyone else with these concerns should call Dennis Spivack and his campaign managers NOW.
No apologies for the anonymity. Look how you sputter and circle around the point when you are deprived of the ad hominem argument and are forced to defend your own words and actions on their merits. ***
Just curious as to why Dana calls himself progressive when his website appears to be nothing but paeans to Republicans and slams on Democrats. Is he confused, dishonest, or bought?
