Can wisdom prevail over ambition?

I sure hope so.

Friends of Hillary hint she may pull out of presidential race

“I would not be surprised if she were to decide that the best contribution she can make to her country is to forget about being president and become a consensus-maker in the Senate,” said a leading Democratic party insider. “She believes there is no trust between the two political sides and that we can’t function as a democracy without it.”

Yes, Senator Clinton has a war chest of $22 million. And Yes, Senator Clinton would be a great President, BUT....she is way too polarizing to win in a landslide. (And just between you and me, we are going to need a landslide to overcome the black box voting).

To answer your question, not a chance. Hillary has nothing but ambition.

The Dems have an opportunity to take the White House the way the GOP got Eisenhower elected in 1952, on the strength of public dissatisfaction with the war. If Iraq=Korea, and Bush=Truman, then wouldn't the logical choice for the Dems be Wesley Clark?

I like Clark.

Bush wishes he was a fifth of the President Harry Truman was.

Actually, there are strong similarities, in that both were not well-spoken and subsequently "misunderestimated" by opponents, and wound up with poor approval ratings due largely to lack of popular support for the war.

As for Clark, I've just begun reading Winning Modern Wars, so my jury's still out on him, but who knows? Given the right conditions and matchup, I could actually vote for him.
