Election Watching Guru, Stu Rothenberg, Gives a Dennis Spivack a High Five

Contrary the "whistling past the graveyard" thinking at First State Poltics, Stu Rotherberg thinks things are looking great for Democrats. Even long-shot Dems like Dennis Spivack.
............
Our latest race-by-race review of Congressional districts around the country convinces us that a Democratic wave is building and that the party is poised to take control of the House of Representatives in the fall. The only question now is the size of the November wave. (snip)

At the district level, voters are more critical of Republican incumbents – and supportive of even unknown Democratic candidates – than they usually are at this point in the election cycle.

Boohya!! I call that a high five, baby. And Rothenberg is no partisan cheerleader. He is the above the fray go to man for the straight dope in DC.

Comments:
Shouldn't he actually mention Spivack, or this another one of your famous "insert Spivack's name where 'Democrats' is, and you get the idea..." posts?

You can tell Castle is running scared by the number of very expensive road signs he's put up before Labor Day. Unheard of. But I guess when you've got a really-o truly-o opponent for the first time in years, and the people are completely fed-up with the rubber-stamp Republicans, you have to spend some of that $3 million you've been amassing while sitting on your butt. It's going to be a tough fight. Call Dennis' headquarters to volunteer at 479-7748 or email Garth at garth@spivackforcongress.com.

So... where are Spivack's signs? Can't you even get a couple of folks to put them up next to those obnoxious Kozikoski signs?? They must be dems, so what's so hard about that.

Have you seen the generic ballot polls? I'm betting Spivack is within 5% right now.

Of course, anon is right it is going to take a lot of work to close that last 5% but Castle has to be shitting his pants.

(The economic) situation is adding to fears among Republicans that the economy will hurt vulnerable incumbents in this year’s midterm elections even though overall growth has been healthy for much of the last five years.

The median hourly wage for American workers has declined 2 percent since 2003, after factoring in inflation. The drop has been especially notable, economists say, because productivity — the amount that an average worker produces in an hour and the basic wellspring of a nation’s living standards — has risen steadily over the same period.

As a result, wages and salaries now make up the lowest share of the nation’s gross domestic product since the government began recording the data in 1947, while corporate profits have climbed to their highest share since the 1960’s.

Thank you Michael Castle and George Bush!

Within 5%?

Are you willing to put some money on that?

How could we know. Nobody is polling this race because everyone is buying into the myth that Catsle's money can paper over his horrible voting record.

"You can tell Castle is running scared by the number of very expensive road signs he's put up before Labor Day. Unheard of."

Welcome to Delaware. This is obviosly your first election cycle.

Castle signs go up in August every election year. Do they look familiar? they should! they are the same signs he used last time. the campaign pulls them out of storage, dusts them off and puts them up. after election day they take them back down and store them for 2 years when they do it all over again.

FSP,

is there a betting line on the Castle race? a contract price? what's the over/under?

So I guess we insert Spivack's name where we see the phrase "unknown Democratic candidate," right?

Yep.

I'm sure Rothenberg is using the word unkown to mean unknown prior to the campaign.

So, he could also have been referring to Karen Hartley-Nagle, whom Spivack has to face in a primary. Booyah indeed.

In a crazy alternate universe...yes I suppose.

"a crazy alternate universe"

You mean there's a crazy alternate universe besides the one you live in?

Yes, Frightland-Jason-robot refers to that as Earth.

Here's you man Rothenberg's up-to-date rankings of the likelihood of a party switch. DE doesn't make the list, meaning it isn't likely at all.

I only mention this because "Rothenberg is no partisan cheerleader. He is the above the fray go to man for the straight dope in DC."

Nice, RickJ. Using his own argument against him. Me likey.
