Why no outcry over the Rhode Island Primary ?

In Connecticut it is the end of the world because a liberal Democrat is taking on a conservative incumbent Democrat in a primary. However, right next-door in Rhode Island a conservative Republican is about to knock off a moderate incumbent Republican in a primary and yet the national talking heads are silent.

We may very well see Laffey instead of Chafee. The last poll of the Republican primary in Rhode Island, June 19-22, reported a 39-28 race, with Chafee holding the slight lead. But polling this primary presents the same problems pollsters have in polling the primary in Connecticut -- primaries bring out the committed party supporters, and Chafee doesn't get a lot of love from his own party. - Via Kos

If Laffey pulls off an upset (any win against any incumbent is an upset) this would be an easy pick-up for Democrats.

Comments:
In the post above I forgot to mention that a Green Party candidate is also vying for the Senate seat currently held by Chaffee. His name is Irrelevant Dumbass.

There's a difference between "we'd prefer a conservative candidate, but we understand that majorities matter" and the idea that a man is a human piece of excrement who is no longer welcome in your party because a 90% liberal voting record is simply not enough, or, in othe words, Lieberman is "the most vile scum this side of Texas."

because a 90% liberal voting record is simply not enough

Wrong.

Voting with the Democrats 90% of the time does NOT equal a "90% liberal voting record." Most of that 90% vote is on centrist issues. It's that other 10% that's the problem. That 10% represents the issues that liberals care about. And Lieberman votes wrong on those too much of the time.

But Lieberman's problem is that since 2000, CT has become more blue, while Joe has become more red. It has nothing to to with bloggers or liberals or vituperation - it's just politics in action.

Issues like what? Besides the war, what?

Jason. Irrelevent Dumbass is my cousin - he's the son of Steve and Carla Dumbass, my aunt and uncle. His name is unfortunate but you should not make fun of him on account of it.

I'm glad to know that you are related by marriage not by birth.

You left out a few.

- voting for federal intervention into the Terri Schiavo case.

- voting with the administration with regard to operations at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay.

Lieberman voted No on the bankruptcy bill, and the pro-lifers don't rate him highly.

Bush's Social Security reform never came up for a vote, but you are right, Lieberman was all over the map and didn't come out strongly against it.

But he DID vote with the Republicans for:
- Patriot Act
- Medicare Part D
- Hayden

Just goes to prove we should leave the issue analysis to the Connecticut-ians.

Corey...you wouldn't happen to be one-half of Delaware's First Gay Family, would you? Stop by my place...DWA loves the gays!

and the pro-lifers don't rate him highly.

I was thinking of this: Lieberman said he believes hospitals that refuse to give contraceptives to rape victims shouldn't be forced to do so. "In Connecticut, it shouldn't take more than a short ride to get to another hospital," he said.

Which, you're right - does not really mean anti-choice. He got the NARAL endorsment anyway.

Also, as for bancrupcy. My bad.

Sorry Mike. Wrong guy. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
But I've already visited your site as Puzzler.

Corey, out of the aka Puzzler closet.....yeah!!

Hmm I love the idea behind this website, very unique.
