Night School: Working the Mainstream Media

I love this DFA idea. It is well past the time for liberals to start fighting back.

Sign-up for Night School

We know that the right-wing has dominated the media for decades. It didn't happen overnight and it didn't happen by accident. Now, if we learn the tools, our nationwide grassroots network has a chance to take back our media.

Throughout the summer, DFA Night School will offer three online sessions that will help build your media skills. The sessions combine an online presentation with a live conference call and group discussion with our trainers to show you how to get a progressive message into the media. You can join any or all of the DFA Night School sessions from the comfort of your home or office today. Click here to sign up:

July 25: Working the Mainstream Media
August 8: Sustaining your Media Presence

The events are free of charge and you don't need any prior experience working with the media. Media coverage is one of the best tools we have for spreading our progressive values -- and holding this administration and Congress accountable for their failures.

Click here to find out more and reserve your spot.

We can change our country, but it's going to take a strong ground game and savvy media outreach. You have the power, now get the skills. Thanks for everything you do.

Sorry, I just couldn't get past this line: We know that the right-wing has dominated the media for decades.

(Gasping for air...!)

It is a real head scratcher to me that you think the media is leftists. I know we've gone over this ground before, but I still can't imagine what give you the idea that it is liberal.
It's simple, Jase: It's because they ARE. Google the studies of voter registrations and/or self-descriptions of political philosophy for those in the media. It mirrors that of university professors (although probably not as bad).

People like Eric Alterman consider the mythic "right-wing bias" to exist because, to him, the media isn't radical enough. He laments its mere center-left tilt (calling it "conservative") and wants more far left coverage.

Oh, and again -- why are Fox, Limbaugh, et. al. so popular? The true reason is because they all fill a void left by the MSM. You can spin it any way you wish, but that is the precise reason.
Journalists may be leftists, however, the ones who CONTROL the flow of news (editors, shareholders, publishers, etc.) in many cases are mostly conservative. All that needs to be asked is:

"Why did the leftist journalists buy Bush's WMD BS hook, line and sinker."
I love this DFA idea. It is well past the time for liberals to start fighting back.

Try some ideas.
By the way, I think the DFA thingie is stupid. I let Hube's continued right-wing/left-wing media argument get in the way of allowing me to make that point. Thing is...I could have made the same argument about Bill Clinton eight years ago and that the media was "right-wing."

I don't see what's so left-wing about the media. If anything -- and I've said it before -- the media is quite contrarian. They tend to attack the administration that's in power no matter what. They gave Bush a pass on several things early on, namely they're just firing back with all they've got and it's quite refreshing.
HUBE get real MSM is scared shitless on one hand and in a conglomerate dendritic fuckwad mass of corporate control on the other.
Just read Bernie Goldberg. He's been in the biz for some 30 yrs. and he explains the "corporate controlled" bit that Nancy and her buddies continually invoke.
