Feingold calls for Universal Health Insurance
While the Republicans are grandstanding and talking a good game about "moral values" and proposing gimmicks like the Flag Burning Amendment, Russ Feingold is all action. He is engaged in the business of the American people by introducing a pilot program designed to bring health insurance to all Americans.

Question: What if a Republican called for universal health care, but his Democrat opponent hated the idea. Conversely, what if the Dem. were anti-war, anti-gay marriage and pro-life, but the Republican held opposing ideologies. What if that Democrat were a Neo-nazi? For whom would you vote?

What if a Republican called for universal health care
Check the fine print. Somehow you know they will find a way to deny people benefits and provide windfall profits for corporations (see Medicare Part D).
As for the rest of the question, that's a regurg of the DG entrapment, "Would you vote for an ideologically appealing Republican over an unattractive Democrat?"
Look, votes aren't cast in a vacuum. Comparing two guys head-to-head is part of a voting decision, but it shouldn't be the end of it.
Here's a hypothetical: Suppose in PA, a right-of-center, pro-life Dem is running against Arlen Specter. If you are a lefty Dem, who do you vote for? If you vote for Specter, and as a result the Senate remains in Republican control, then Russ Feingold never gets to introduce his universal health care bill. In this case, your vote for the more progressive candidate has harmed the progressive cause.

What, in the past five years, makes you think that a Republican would promote ever promote universal health care, or be anti-war, or pro-gay marriage ?
It is a hypothetical question that does not makes sense. Just like the other hypothetical question that keeps coming up, "What if the worst most corrupt Dem is running againstg the best, most progressive Republican?"
I just don't see that happening.

That's not "universal health care" - Romney is just co-opting the term for his pro-corporate program.
Although I do admit Romney's plan is better than the social Darwinism we usually get out of Republicans. But it ain't a national health-care system.
