That's right. We kicked ass. Crank up the Toby Keith music, and pop open a beer. We attacked a fourth rate army that could not wait to quit and basically bombed the crap out of everything that remotely resembled something defensive in nature.
We found that bad man, and pulled his statue down on TV. We won. President Bush was right. The mission was accomplished.
So why is it odd that Democrats are not unified on
THE WAR. Why should they be, the war is over.
We are into the occupation - and no matter what anyone thinks about
THE WAR I think we call all agree that the occupation is something that was immoral from the moment it started.
The occupation is un-American. It is forcing our will on others through our military. Who wins in that situation ? Nobody.
If you are looking for Democratic unity, we should all start by calling this what it is. An occupation
UPDATE: Democrats can and will win the Iraq debate if they embrace the fact that they disagree and contrast it with the slavish, mindless rubber-stamp Republicans.
The only place in the American government where there is an honest and spirited debate over Iraq is within the Democratic Party. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer are not on the same page - and that's a good thing. Hillary Clinton and John Kerry disagree. Hooray for that.... At least someone is debating what to do.
The fact is the American people want a new direction in Iraq, and the Democrats offer several. The Republicans, on the other hand, offer nothing more than a four-word strategy: more of the same.
