This is from the department of obvious observations. During the June 18 edition of CNN's Reliable Sources, Gloria Borger, a CBS News contributor and U.S. News & World Report contributing editor, acknowledged that the media "are suckers" because of their coverage of President Bush's surprise June 13 trip to Iraq. Adding that "[w]e do like these secret trips," Borger concluded:
"[Y]ou know you're being used, but in a way you kind of like it because it's good pictures." During the segment, photographs of President Bush walking into Air Force One, riding in its cockpit, and walking with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki appeared on screen.
Well CBS, CNN et al I'm sure that 2,500 dead Americans and scores of dead Iraqis thank you for your slavish devotion to great pictures of Bush. When the call went out for a worthless pack of mewling sycophants - you stepped up.

You may recall that in May 2005, Vice President Cheney declared that the insurgency in Iraq was in its “last throes” and predicted “[t]he level of activity that we see today from a military standpoint, I think, will clearly decline.” Since that time, violence in Iraq has continued unabated.
Today he reasserted that observation. I feel better. Don't you?
