Gullible Wing-Nuts (heart) BS: PART III

DelawareWatch points out that Ryan Silberstein glommed onto another juicy right wing urban legend like it was the gospel. This time it was the claim that Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

What is with these guys and their gullibility? They will literaly fall for anything.

Here are some other case studies:

"Santa Claus" is a bad word in elementary school.

Wing-nut urban legends like this always kick start rounds of republican faux weeping for the state of humanity. Their unquenchable thirst for BS probably explains why they believe in other fantasies like; "They will greet us as liberators"

The inane story of a "left-wing" prof who runs into a righteous Navy Seal.

Q. What is funnier than a bunch of gullible wing-nuts falling for some urban legend and passing it off as a true story?
A. A bunch of gullible wing-nuts falling for some urban legend and passing it off as a true story, getting called on it.

I think this study in wingnutia, makes it clear that there is a correlation between the eagerness of these people to believe nonsense and a their ability to promote the myth that republicans can govern.

Jason,
this is why I consider partisan politics warfare......is all fair?
GOPerholes like Joke R. go down a crooked road, friend.

It goes way beyond gullible GOP fanboys - I have to believe these anecdotes are being deliberately put out as propaganda for policies that could not be argued on the facts.

Republicans love anecdotes. They swallowed up Reagan's Cadillac-driving welfare queen stories, and they never stopped.

And now they are using bogus stories of huge malpractice awards to justify their agenda of stripping our right to a day in court. Never mind that most if not all these awards turn out to be either outright lies, or overturned or reduced on appeal.

Bogus anecdotes work because the debunking stories are never publicized as much as the initial reports. The "outrageous" anecdote is given headline space, flogged by yellow journalists like John Stossel, passed around as email, and blogged by gullible bloggers. But when the debunking inevitably arrives, it's ignored by all the above.

IMHO the real story about the Iran/yellow star thing is:

1. Who put out the story and why? and

2. When are we going to get some introspection and apologies from the people who uncritically picked up on the story and triumphantly passed it on?

They need to realize they are being fooled again by their hero Bush as he tries to demonize Iran and whip up war hysteria using the same playbook he did for Iraq.

2. When are we going to get some introspection and apologies from the people who uncritically picked up on the story and triumphantly passed it on?

Never.

You are right about getting the story/smear/lie out and making it stick, and maybe backing away when attention is focused elsewhere. That is what they did to John Kerry with the swift boats. it is a common tactic.

However, I think we should still demand apologies and corrections. I just told Al Macseti (sp?) and his WDEL audience that Michael Castle needs to apologize to Delaware for serving as George Bush's campaign chairman.

I'm not holding my breath.

Intersting!
Actually the caddies them mamma WQ's are drivin' are twenty years old.....it is the anecdote with the grains of truth and the shadings of evil intent that cuase so much havoc and sway the "undecided" no-brain numbskulls.
