Spivack Needs to Call for Impeachment. Period.

Here are the facts:

1. In the summer of 2003 one-or-more higher-ups in the Bush Admin outed Valerie Plame (a CIA Operative tracking nuclear materials) as revenge for her husband, Joe Wilson, embarrassing Bush on his (Bush's) lies about Iraq's attempts to obtain fissionable material from Niger.

2. Bush, over and over again, claimed that this was a reprehensible leak, that he'd ordered his staff to cooperate with the Justice Department in investigating it, and that he'd fire anyone involved. See great Delaware Dem resource Diary here.

3. We now find out, and the White House has not denied, that Bush himself was behind this crime.

4. This has nothing to do with "declassifying previously classified information", as the media Bushbots who are trying to muddy the waters would have us think.

So - While I was in favor of passing on "impeachment" as an issue a few months ago, I think Spivack must now run a "Vote for me if you want to impeach!" campaign. The President IS the issue. If he can make this race a referendum on President Bush he will win. For that matter, Delaware, and the country will also win. Simply ignore that irrelevant milquetoast, rubber stamp, arrogant jerk, Michael Castle. Take it to Bush.

Needless to say, Biden, Carper and Castle should also be pushing for impeachment, but I will not be holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

Comments:
The fact that only a few hardcore nutcases approve of the job Bush is doing would seem to support your case.

I think half the nation's called for impeachment. Last I checked, it's up to 48%. Surely we can hit 51% by November. If it worked on Clinton, then it's GOT to work on Bush.

Get this ass outta da White House!

Anything to protect your man, Bush. Even treason. Even jeopardizing our security. Some American you turned out to be.

You mean Valerie Plame, who was deep undercover on the Washington party circuit.

And Joe Wilson, who lied his ass off about a document that hadn't even been produced when he claimed to have seen it.

This is just snark - all of which may be true, but does not excuse Bush. Leaking the info was illegal, unless he pulls some "President-Is-Incapable-Of-Leaking" defense out of his butt. Now that the truth is getting out and being understood, Bush is going down politically if not legally.

As we saw with Clinton, the magnitude of the lie doesn't matter. Clinton lied about an affair and for Chrissake, the Republicans got all huffed up about "obstruction of justice" - the triviality of the lie didn't matter to them. Now Bush has clearly lied about many things that are much less trivial with much greater impact on America, and there are some very smart people trying to find legal grounds for holding him accountable.

If this is the case why did the CIA refer the case to the Justice Department? Why did Bush promise to fire the leaker? You are all wet on this one. Time to let go of Bush. You will be glad you did.

Time to let go of Bush. You will be glad you did.

Just watch this clip from CNN this morning.

This is the man you are defending by repeating the RNC spin.

Al Mascitti had the best line...when Bush said he'd fire anyone causing the leak he couldn't have meant himself!!!!
bad paraphrase..had to be there.
