Bombing Iran = The Only Card Left

Would President Bush go to war to stop Tehran from getting the bomb?
by SEYMOUR M. HERSH

The Bush Administration, while publicly advocating diplomacy in order to stop Iran from pursuing a nuclear weapon, has increased clandestine activities inside Iran and intensified planning for a possible major air attack. Current and former American military and intelligence officials said that Air Force planning groups are drawing up lists of targets, and teams of American combat troops have been ordered into Iran, under cover, to collect targeting data and to establish contact with anti-government ethnic-minority groups. The officials say tha President Bush is determined to deny the Iranian regime the opportunity to begin a pilot program, planned for this spring, to enrich uranium.

Unlike "reporters" like Celia Cohen, Seymour Hersh does actual research and reports old fashioned facts. Hersh has a great track record, so it is safe to say that Bush is going to bomb Iran.

This had to be in the planning all along, and it's been dependent on the 2006 mid-term election timing. It's possible that he never would have had to bomb Iran if Iraq had been slower to collapse into civil war. But as always, he misunderestimated the situation, and the Iraqi people are killing each other now while killing US soldiers faster than he planned. Bush's polls are sliding down faster than he planned. So his ace in the hole is looking like the only card in the deck.

We know he likes to use the military to divert attention from how much he sucks. We know that he is capable of killing more hundreds of thousands of brown people to maintain political control over the Congress and avoid a Democratic Senate Select Committee. The only thing we don't know right now, is how much of a "bounce" in the polls the bombing of Iran will give him.

I put the over/under at 5 percent.

Comments:
Does he need another resolution from Congress to attack Iran? If he does, the politics get interesting. The Dems were afraid to vote against the Iraq resolution... but now, the Repubs might be afraid to vote FOR an Iran resolution.

I'm thinking Bush will just skip the whole messy "get authorization from Congress" part and just bomb away.

Maybe it's time for Feingold or somebody to step up and introduce a resolution that Bush may not attack Iran without explicit authorization from Congress.

Low numbers can't keep him from doing what he thinks is right.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

Fool me thrice, more shame on me.

Fool me a fourth time - WTF?

You still don;t get how this guy operates do you?

I used to think you were just acting clueless. Now I pity suckers like you.

(In a mesmerized, zombie voice)

I WILL OBEY...

I WILL OBEY...

I WILL OBEY...

Now when the nukes fall on Iran after some BS prime time speech full of lies and phony satellite maps, I will be ready with my GOP approved talking points.

Do you agree that Iran is building a nuclear bomb? Do you trust Bush to tell the truth about that given his track record ?
Do you agree that they have publicly stated that they would use said nuclear bomb on both Israel and the United States?
Do you agree that the Soviet Union publicy stated the same thing and we beat them without nuking them?

GET A CLUE ! You simply can't be this DUMB.

When the bombs start raining down on Iran, I will be standing shoulder to shoulder with this great President. There will be no daylight between us. The courage demonstrated by this Administration will be a beacon for the world to follow. It's always America last for liberal bozos like you.

When the bombs start raining down on Iran, I will be standing shoulder to shoulder with this great President. There will be no daylight between us.

...but there will be sunlight streaming through your ears and if the wind blows your empty head and Bush's empty head might make a sort of flute-like whistling sound.
