I hate to Dem Bash but this is ridiculous!
Feingold Left Hanging in the Wind by Fellow Dems
On Monday Senator Russ Feingold introduced a Resolution to Censure President Bush for breaking the law by ordering warrant-less wiretaps on American citizens on American soil. According to this morning's WAPO the Democratic Caucus is leaving Russ out there spinning in the wind.
I am often accused of "my party, right or wrong" sentiment, and mostly I can live with that. But today I'm just livid. Why am I a Democrat? Because Democrats respect the law and value honesty. So how hard is it to stand up to a President who, by his own televised admission, has broken the law, and lies whenever his lips move?
Apparently too hard for the members of the Democratic Caucus. No wonder people keep asking what do the Democrats stand for? Harry Reid says he wants to wait on this. Were is the moral certainty? Feingold is right, Bush is wrong and that's not going to change with the passage of time. When even Sandra Day O'Conner warns that we are on a slippery slope to dictatorship do we have the time to wait?
Anybody else out there just furious or am I just being a wingnut?

Feingold is right and stirs my blood too, but his methods lacked a little finesse. thecarpetbaggerreport lays out some of the pragmatic reasons why Democrats reacted the way they did. Of course the Dems should get themselves behind Feingold more often. I do hope Feingold keeps banging on the door, but he needs to be careful lest he turn himself into a Democratic McCain.

you are right, just another example of what pussies they are. I am not a dem by any means but it is the only option to get rid of the crap we have now. these morons are so clueless there will be a GOP majority for a long while based on this spineless action.

That is the problem. The democratic party puts more weight on being pragmatic than they do on being right.
And voters just love that, right?

You can't argue that the GOP used a pragmatic approach to taking over the country on behalf of a few rich guys and a handfull of corporations.

Yeah, but at least they took the time to form a vast right-wing conspiracy before attacking. Newt didn't just drop the Contract with America on the House floor and demand that everybody support it. And Henry Hyde didn't introduce the Clinton impeachment all by himself.

Well I don't see us forming a vast left wing conspracy OR attacking. Heck - I'd be pleased by a mild defense instead of an ongoing undisciplined retreat.
EVERYONE knows about how f'ed-up and criminal Bush is except our Democratic leaders in Congress. What are they waiting for?
