We invaded Iraq because of an Iraqi connections to 9/11

If that is true, you have to wonder why we have not yet invaded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well.

Some facts about the UAE:

- The UAE was one of three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

- The UAE has been a key transfer point for illegal shipments of nuclear components to Iran, North Korea and Lybia.

- According to the FBI, money was transferred to the 9/11 hijackers through the UAE banking system.

- After 9/11, the Treasury Department reported that the UAE was not cooperating in efforts to track down Osama Bin LadenÂ’s bank accounts.

From Think Progress

The UAE is a country with REAL ties to terrorists, but did we invade them?

No, the Bush adminstration had a better idea. Instead of invading them, we outsourced the operation of six of the nation's largest ports (New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia) to them. Maybe it is me, but I don't feel safer with BushCo calling the shots.

UPDATE: UAE Would Also Control Shipments of Military Equipment For The U.S. Army How is that for "supporting the troops"?

UPDATE II: Rumsfeld is on the board which unanimously approved the port deal he claims he'd never heard of.

UPDATE III: Nothing rises above politics for the right-wing. Check out this comment from an otherwise sane Delathought posted on JTTR, "The only question I have is: Why not wait until November to do this deal, after the elections, when disingenuous people will not be trying to score points?"

Comments:
I'm picking my jaw up off of the ground, and I have not even been shot in the face by Dick Cheney.

I'm disgusted. Totally disgusted. I'm embarrassed and sad for my country. If this thing goes through I am done with supporting Bush's efforts in National Security (or obvious lack thereof.) Unbelievable.

Why not wait until November to do this deal, after the elections, when disingenuous people will not be trying to score points?

Remember, the war isn't even represented on the budget recently passed. All the payola is embedded in the soon-to-be-requested additional appropriations. I hope this time there are some investigative reporters with sharp pencils who will follow that money and see who is really benefiting.

Unbelievable. Bush has just now threatened to VETO any potential Congressional action to block the port deal.

He stands behind his man Snow!!!
