UAE Deal Shows That Nothing Rises Above Politics For WingNuts

If you don't believe me, check out this gem from an otherwise sane Delathought posted on JTTR,

"The only question I have is: Why not wait until November to do this deal, after the elections, when disingenuous people will not be trying to score points?" Emphasis mine.

I think that compromising our port security is a national issue, not a Republican or Democratic issue. To the right wing this is no big deal. I wonder if they would be so relaxed about it if it was Bill Clinton's treasury department that inked this deal?

Comments:
Maybe it is a question of shading. When I hear the President say, "After careful review by our government, I believe the transaction ought to go forward,"

I take it to mean that the security implications of this have not been carefully considered and the transaction should be stopped.

When Rummy says that he never heard of the deal, but the deal was approved by a board that he sits on, it makes me think that the security implications of this have not been carefully considered and the transaction should be stopped.

Sorry if the "The only question I have," preface to your comment made me think that the only problem you had with the transaction was that it was bad political strategy.

There is a whole heck of a lot about this I don't understand.

However, I'll bet following the money will show that Republicans are not seriuously interested in national security when security gets in the way of some insider getting a big payday.

AMEN Jason, this is about insider cronysim, period.
