Dean in Wilmington: Part I

UPDATE: 8:25 Just back. Dean was awesome, inspirational, smart, tough and heart breaking (when you think how much better off this country would be if he was President). My full post will be up tomorrow.

I also got to meet my felow fourth estater's Celia Cohen, Gerry Fulcher and Patrick Jackson and wonder if I'll find that we were at the same fundraiser when I read thier reports.

------------------------------------

Way back when America was so proud of our belligerent little frat boy in the White House landing jets on aircraft carriers and making transparently asinine statements about us spreading democracy and fighting evil doers. Howard Dean had the nerve to say "WTF?!"

In the wake of Saddam Hussein's capture, Dean questioned whether the invasion of Iraq made the U.S. "safer". He was promptly ridiculed by virtually everyone as a radical and a lunatic. But the reality in Iraq has become too overwhelming for anyone other than the true kool-aid drinkers to deny.

Now, other than people who are directly on the take, there are very few people left willing to defend the invasion and occupation as anything other than a total disaster. Sadly, the remaining holdouts happen to be sitting in the White House and are abetted everyday by yes men in Congress like Michael Castle.

Getting that dead weight out of Congress is now part of Dr. Deans job - and I hope to hear his bring it to the hoop today. I hope he spends his limited time in Delaware making the case that Bush has been a failure on every level, especially in the area of national security, and one way to address that failure and make us "safer" is to take away his reliable vote from Delaware.

UPDATE: I just got to tell the truth about Michael Castle on Al's WDEL show for about 5 minutes. It is a great day to be a Democrat.

Comments:
Maybe, if he's successful, you can turn Delaware into a reliably Democratic state!

I sense sarcasm, but yes. That is the idea.

True, Delaware is a blue state; all the more reason we should do our part toward a Democratic majority in the US House.

Delaware Dems shouldn't get cocky though, with wall-to-wall Dems the risk is falling prey to corruption and stagnation just like the national GOP. The challenge is to reform the Dem party BEFORE getting swept out of power. Sounds like some of that reform is under way in DE; let's hope it's enough!

His job is to make America more blue that's why he's invested in Alabama and Mississippi and Utah as well as Idahoe, Wyoming, and Alaska among other places.

He's letting John Danellio do his job even better by adding 3 staff members to the Party HQ.

If DE was reliably Blue our party should control the State and Federal House seats. Also we would've won the AG's race in 02'. Beyond that the other party is corrosively corrupt when governing and unacceptably conservative. Did I mention they have no idea how to govern.

Jason, the last progressive republican's name is Jacob Javits, he was a Senator from New York. Since then anyone who claims republicans are progressive are liars. R's are neither liberal nor progressive.

Hope to see you from 4-5:15 today.

Amen to all that.

If you are talking about Delaware Republicans not knowing how to govern, I'll have that debate all day long, and twice on Sunday, with anybody.

Sunday is for church got to keep it holy.

Well I guess I better guest post here on the sins of the Republican controlled House in Delaware.

I'll eagerly await that post.

The DE DEMs in power as are sleazy as any GOPer so the difference there is minimal....

Heads up DEMS:

GOPers are planning to stand around the entrance to the Residences at Rodney Square and let drool hang out of their mouths as they "do the Dean Scream"

puhlease!!!!!!!!!!

We have some pretty whack characters here in Delaware GOPer party politics!!

I am not going to go inside because I can barely afford to fill my gas tank much less pay 50 bucks to 15 minutes of party hackery.

But since I did fill the tank this morning, I am going to Wilmington to gawk at the GOPer droolers ... god I wish I had a decent camera.

That Dave Crossan is a real genius.
